Layo and Bushwacka
“We both believe in the same things, good people, good parties, good music. Acid house, basically.”
Layo Paskin and Matthew ‘Bushwacka’ Benjamin have been involved in dance music since acid house’s heyday in 1988. Both being DJs (Layo is the co-owner of the London superclub The End) has allowed them to learn what can rock a dancefloor ad what can bring people back down afterwards. In 1998 they came together and released “Low Life” to modest acclaim and in 2002 they released “Nightworks” on XL Recordings. “Nightworks” is a stunning blend of breaks, techno and downbeat ambience.
Layo and Bushwacka’s most recent album is “Feels Closer” and is released in 2006.
“Half the album is downtempo and laidback. It’s probably our warmest work to date, and features an array of fantastic singers and musicians, which is a new direction for us. Our recording in New York and Brazil was a major influence and is reflected in the variety of music on the album. We feel very connected with this work and where we want to be musically, and in our lives, hence the title Feels Closer”.
