TOTAL ECLIPSE
We’re totally psyched to have no less than six Chrysalis acts represented on the wicked-cool, Alex Patsavas-created soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, streeting June 8 on Atlantic (the movie opens June 30). That would be Bat for Lashes, The Bravery, Eastern Conference Champions, Cee-lo, Metric and UNKLE. Here’s the complete sequence (with links to [...]
SPIRITS IN THE NIGHT
Chrysalis had one helluva Christmas shindig Dec. 15 at Hollywood saloon Three of Clubs. Raved one staffer who hung in there till they closed the joint: “The Eastern Conference Champions gave a show-stopping performance. Dave Sitek [of TV on the Radio] sat in with Holly Miranda. Andy Clockwise revved it back after Holly and got [...]

Eastern Conference Champions (ECC) were formed in Bucks County, PA and comprised of longtime collaborators Joshua Ostrander and Greg Lyons. The two found themselves alone in a studio after parting ways with their old band, “Laguardia”, who released an album on Universal/Republic Records. Eventually that material became The Southampton Collection-EP, released on Retone Records in March 2006. The president of Geffen records heard the songs and the friends, now ECC, found themselves back in the major label world and were signed to a new branch of the Universal Music Group.
Their debut record, “Ameritown” was produced by Owen Morris (Oasis, The View) and released in the United States on July 17th, 2007. The album was a critical success, garnering rave reviews as the band toured the U.S. relentlessly and even made an appearance on “Last Call with Carson Daly”. Always ready for the road, ECC criss-crossed the country in their van playing countless shows by themselves and supporting such acts as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, indie rock legend Black Francis and The Films among others.
While earning well-deserved accolades at home in the States, Eastern Conference Champions also turned heads abroad when “Ameritown” was released in the United Kingdom in May 19, 2008 on Island/Fallout. ECC built up a loyal UK fan base and caught the attention of publications such as NME by playing anywhere and everywhere across the pond and even made their name known in Europe by supporting American indie rockers Rogue Wave.
2009 has Eastern Conference Champions back in their newly adopted home of Los Angeles, busy in the studio working on a new record. Ostrander and Lyons also welcomed the addition of skilled musician and San Francisco native Melissa Dougherty on guitar and backing vocals. Recently free from the shackles of a major label, the band is excited about their next release and anxious to get back in the van and go back home on the road.
