Bjorn Baillie
Hailing from Dublin, Ireland… Bjorn Baillie has played music since he was a teenager…from late night clubs as a 15-yr old drummer, to touring the world as singer/guitarist and chief songwriter of La Rocca…playing from London to New York, Montreal to Sydney (via Baton Rouge & Lincoln, Nebraska!)
Grabbing inspiration from Sam Cooke and John Fogerty, to Paul Westerberg and Bruce Springsteen… Baillie has been called a ‘bottomless supply of songwriting ability’ (The Owl Mag). Now, after a stint with La Rocca, where he was called ‘a talented guitarist, gifted songwriter and even better singer’ (Treblezine), Baillie has struck out on fresh adventure.
Baillie’s songs have been used in such hit shows as Gossip Girl, The O.C., One Tree Hill and Reaper… click HERE to check out a clip of La Rocca’s “Non-Believer” as used on the season finale of One Tree Hill, and HERE to check out “Senses” in current promos for the CW’s Life Unexpected.
“Senses” was also featured as a Song of the Day on KCRW, LA’s legendary and beloved public radio station; “Roadway Hymn” enjoyed a similar feature on NPR’s music blog, calling out “Bjorn Baillie’s fragile vocals that bring a touch of blue-eyed soul.”
Having previously worked with lauded producers Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air), and Mike McCarthy (…Trail of Dead, Spoon), Baillie is now a resident of London town, working on new solo and full-band material with Grammy-nominated engineer Dyre Gormsen.
In an industry that lives off remakes, dressed up copyists, and the constant re-hashing of spent ideas….Bjorn Baillie is ‘THAT songwriter that will stick around for years’ (Future Sounds). His, is a fresh and original voice for these times, as he writes songs that combine storytelling, soul and modern living, with a voice that ‘channels Paul Westerberg’s husky gravel’ (Pop Matters)
Baillie’s latest songs were recorded over 2 rainy weeks in London, and bring to mind 1970’s Lennon (“Menace”), and that young hustler of that decade, Bruce Springsteen (“Beautiful Night”)
